This past weekend, nearly 60 volunteers braved the cold and participated in Sherwood Forests’s 8th Annual Volunteer Trades Weekend. This is an event unlike any other, filled with camaraderie, great food, and plenty of hard work.
This year, volunteers tackled a wide variety of tasks during the weekend. Our skilled trades volunteers built garden beds, cleared an area for our new village, built a new trail, upgraded the electric in the barn, and made improvements to the stage and the Big House.
In addition to tradespeople, we also had volunteers who helped get the Health Lodge ready camp by organizing materials and deep cleaning. A team of volunteers also supported our chef, Mark Williams, to ensure that everyone was properly fueled for the work-filled weekend.
The work that happens over Volunteer Trades Weekend is invaluable to Sherwood Forest and makes our camp a better place for the kids who call it home during the summer. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and resources to make this another great year! We want to give a special thanks Schaeffer Electric, Habitat for Humanity, Bobcat of St. Louis, E. Meier, J & L Contracting, K & K Supply and Sherwin-Williams for donating vital equipment to the projects.
