Most people are familiar with our summer programs, but did you know that we continue to work with our campers year round?
Through Quest, our program for 1st through 9th graders, we offer Continued Contact opportunities for our campers to build their skills from the summer through hands-on, educational trips during the school year.
One Continued Contact outing we offered this winter was to Herbaria where a group of 3rd-5th grade girls and boys learned all about soap making. While there, campers learned about the chemical reactions and all the ingredients that go into making soap. Campers could connect this to our STEM program during the summer. Our campers got make and take home their own soap cut outs.
We also returned to the World Bird Sanctuary where our campers learned about all kinds of animals – not just birds. A group of 3rd-5th grade girls and boys met 4 animals — a snake, a hawk, a lizard, and an opossum. We learned about each animal’s story and what makes them unique. Our campers’ favorite animal to learn about was the possum because of how friendly he was.
