Our 9th Annual Volunteer Trades Weekend was unlike any other. This past weekend, over 70 volunteers donated their time and skills to help us not only with a variety of construction projects, but also with moving into our new facilities.
Our Trades Weekend volunteers were some of the first people who got to see the completed construction at camp. Groups helped us move the books from our old library to their new home. They also helped move new and old furniture to their permanent locations in the MAC.
We also had a group of volunteers assist with setting up our new kitchen and helping Chef Mark Williams prepare gourmet meals to feed and thank our volunteer crews.
Other projects included fixing the roof at the old dining hall, building a foundation and deck for the Tiny House, working on our garden, building and staining benches, and staining the Tango Tower.
The work that happens over Volunteer Trades Weekend is invaluable to Sherwood Forest and makes our camp a better place for the kids who call it home during the summer. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and resources to make this another great year!
We want to give a special thanks to groups from Schaeffer Electric, Habitat for Humanity, and Waterway for sending volunteer groups and to Sherwin-Williams and P&G Contractors for donating vital equipment to the projects.
