On May 5th, Sherwood Forest family and friends gathered at Washington University to celebrate the 7 Supports for Success high school seniors who are getting ready to graduate, and cheer them on as they prepare for their post-secondary adventures. The Supports for Success event aligns with national initiatives taking place that include Decision Day and Better Make Room/Reach Higher, providing a forum for high school graduates to share their plans and dreams in continuing their education. All of our Sherwood seniors have their heights set on achieving greatness, whether that be at a 4 year university, community college, or serving in the armed forces. This year’s graduates plans include ventures to Truman State University, the United States Air Force, and Tennessee State University.
Each of the graduates were able to share their upcoming post-secondary plans, but also to reflect upon how Sherwood has impacted their lives over the years. Each shared their unique perspectives on how camp and Supports for Success programming have contributed to the young adults they are today. Sherwood is so proud of their achievements thus far and believe in each of them, knowing that their resourcefulness and compassion will continue to positively influence our communities.
During the event, each Supports for Success senior was presented with a Sherwood Forest blanket to accompany them on their continued journeys to help remind them that their camp community will continue to support them through the challenges and opportunities that await them. Sherwood will also be providing each senior with a $500 educational award to help offset the costs of their post-secondary transitions.
