Sunday, June 16th marked the start of the 2024 Summer Camp season at Sherwood Forest and we have been having an amazing time! This month, we have been hosting our 1st through 3rd graders and guiding campers through so many fun activities. Throughout the summer, we celebrate various national food days (National Fudge Day, National Donut Day, National Mac ‘n Cheese Day – Yum!), national holidays like Juneteenth and host fun themed days like Crazy Sock Day. Cabin groups start out participating in various team building activities, initiative games, shelter building, fire building and outdoor cooking. Campers are also enjoying pool parties, dance battles, making tie-dye creations and sharing plenty of friendship bracelets. Once they’ve gotten acquainted with camp, campers start walking to their activities of choice, which helps provide them with autonomy and responsibility. There’s truly something for everyone at Sherwood Forest. Climbing at the Tango Tower, ceramics, archery, dance, canoeing, gardening – the list goes on! Campers also had the opportunity to hike to a campsite on our property for a lunch cookout and return the following day to camp overnight.
Next month, our 4th through 9th grade campers will join us at Sherwood Forest and we can hardly wait. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this summer possible – our amazing staff, generous donors, and dedicated volunteers. Our campers will have an incredible summer thanks to you!
